2013 events

13th September ’13

The Friends of Stourbridge Common will hold their Annual General Meeting on Friday 13 September at St. Andrew’s Hall Chesterton at 7 pm.

14th September ’13

The Stourbridge Fair re-enactment is happening on Saturday 14th September with a walk at 10am from the riverside entrance to the Common arriving at the Leper Chapel in time for the opening of the fair.

18 March ’13

On 18 March (and not 12th as previously published) at 7.30 at St. Andrew’s Hall, County Councillor Ian Manning will hold a local consultation about the Green Dragon Footbridge, including plans for maintenance and art work/repainting.  Please come along and give your views, as this has impact on Stourbridge Common.

4 April ’13

The public hearing on the appeal for demolition of the Penny Ferry/Pike & Eel pub will take place on Thursday, 4 April 2013 at 10 am at Council Offices in the Guildhall.  As you know, if the building is demolished, planning permission is already in place for construction of new houses, which will dramatically change the views from the Common.  Just showing up will help support our case against demolition, but if you wish to speak, the inspector will usually open the meeting with an invitation to those present to identify if they wish to speak on the appeal and you can ask to do so at that time.

The Friends of Stourbridge Committee and many other groups filed a joint appeal against the demolition, running to 80+ pages.  If you are interested in having a copy of this document, please contact us via our Facebook page.

13 April ’13

And the Annual Cam Clean up will take place this year on Saturday, 13 April from 10 am – 1 pm.  If you are interested in participating, please email Andrea Reiner, one of the organisers, directly to signal your interest at:

andreareiner23@gmail.com

Unfortunately this year there will not be a barbecue at the Fort St George, but volunteers are invited to meet up there after the cleanup.
